來自《masterherald》的消息，溜馬不打算與替補控衛CJ-沃特森（C.J. Watson）續約，今夏他們補強控衛很可能會瞄準林書豪。
假如沃特森離開，溜馬顯然需要給喬治-希爾（George Hill）尋找合格的替補，過去幾個賽季，控衛始終是溜馬的弱環之一，管理層希望這樣的局面能夠在今夏有所改善。而林書豪很可能會成為他們補強的目標。
雖然過去一個賽季在湖人，林書豪狀態起伏不定飽受外界質疑，但當他的上場時間穩定之後，還是有著不錯的表現。
有分析認為，作為一名擅長帶動隊友，突擊能力和籃球智商都頗高的控衛，林書豪非常符合主帥沃格爾（Frank Vogel）的要求。而且之前有消息稱，溜馬很可能在今夏放棄半場進攻體系，轉而改打跑轟，而這正是林書豪擅長的風格。另外，溜馬之所以看上林書豪，在完成現有的千萬合約後，今夏的自由市場上，他的年薪將會大幅度下滑。
之前曾有消息稱，火箭、籃網、黃蜂、金塊等7支球隊都有可能對林書豪展開追逐，不過這其中並沒有溜馬的名字。上周曾有媒體報導稱，如果小牛沒能續約艾里斯（Monta Ellis），他們很可能就會對林書豪展開追逐。
